Blur to close website as Blend loan matching ends Nov. 12

Blur’s Ethereum NFT marketplace remains available through its website, but the company said Monday it will close the frontend on Nov. 12 and stop matching new loans through Blend, its NFT lending service. The marketplace’s smart contracts will remain operational on Ethereum, according to The Block’s report on Blur’s announcement.

What changes when the website closes?

The shutdown removes Blur’s website interface, while the onchain marketplace protocol continues to operate. That distinction matters if you use Blur to trade: the website is the route to the protocol, but it is not the protocol itself. Blur has not announced that trading through its smart contracts will stop.

The announcement also sets a deadline for Blend borrowers. Blur said new loans will no longer be matched from Nov. 12, and borrowers have until then to repay existing loans or allow them to default. The company says it will provide a frontend tool after that date to help users withdraw Blend assets, CoinDesk reported.

What should Blend borrowers do before Nov. 12?

If you have an outstanding Blend loan, Blur’s announcement gives you two choices before matching ends:

  1. Repay the loan by Nov. 12.
  2. Allow it to default if you do not repay by then.

Blur says it will offer a tool for withdrawing assets after the deadline, so borrowers should check the company’s instructions as that date approaches.

How much has Blur’s trading volume fallen?

The retreat follows a sharp decline in trading activity. The Block’s data puts Blur’s monthly volume at about $1.43 billion in March 2023, before it fell below $7 million in March 2026. The decline helps explain why the closure matters beyond the website: Blur is ending a major public access point to a marketplace whose activity has contracted, even as its Ethereum contracts remain live.
