Samsung Wallet to add USDC transfers across Solana and Sui

Samsung Wallet has not offered built-in stablecoin transfers. Samsung says eligible U.S. Galaxy users will be able to send USDC across borders through the app starting in the last week of October, bringing the feature to 82 million compatible devices.

According to Samsung’s announcement, the service will initially support USDC, a dollar-denominated stablecoin, and let users send it to compatible crypto wallets internationally. The Solana Foundation’s announcement says Solana will provide blockchain support alongside Sui, with the networks operating behind the familiar Samsung Wallet interface.

How will a user send USDC?

Samsung says users will not need to install a separate crypto app or manage private keys themselves. The company describes a flow that starts with funding a stablecoin balance and uses biometric authentication to approve transfers:

  1. Select “Buy Stablecoin”; USDC will appear as the default dollar stablecoin.
  2. Authenticate on a registered, compatible Galaxy device.
  3. Send USDC to a compatible crypto wallet, or send money to an eligible bank account in one of more than 60 countries.

For bank transfers, recipients may receive local currency without needing a crypto wallet. Samsung says transfer fees apply to these bank payments, with the cost and estimated delivery time shown in the app before confirmation.

Who handles the stablecoins and transfers?

Samsung says Bastion will provide the stablecoin accounts and payment infrastructure, while Coinbase will act as sub-custodian through Coinbase Prime Vault. Samsung says it does not hold customer funds. Its devices require biometric authentication to initiate transfers.

Samsung will not charge for USDC transfers to external wallets, though recipient wallets or exchanges may charge their own fees; transfer speed depends on network conditions. Eligibility also has limits: users must be eligible U.S. residents aged 18 or older with a Samsung Account and a compatible Galaxy device running Android 13 or higher, and they must complete identity verification.

The rollout puts stablecoin transfers inside an app used for cards, IDs and boarding passes. For you, that means sending USDC can start from Samsung Wallet, while the available route depends on whether the recipient uses a supported wallet or an eligible bank account.
